Chicago Plant
Located in the southeast area of Chicago on the Calumet River, the Chicago Plant began operations in 1982. The plant became a part of the Compass Minerals family when it was acquired in 1989.
The Chicago facility receives salt on vessels from the Goderich, ON mine and on barges from our mine in Cote Blanche. Once at the plant, the salt is unloaded and either distributed to surrounding communities for use in highway deicing or packaged for deicing or water conditioning use.
